CRAFTING FOR CLIMATE
Explore climate action and resilience through creative practice.
A hands-on textile workshop series led by local artists Tal Fitzpatrick and Melissa Spratt as part of A Portal to the Future. Explore climate action and resilience through creative practice, learn to finger knit, contribute to a collective quilted artwork, and take home your own native seed bomb!
This project culminates on 24 October for the International Day of Climate Action and take place at community spaces in Upper Coomera, Coolangatta and Broadbeach.

Kickstart — Next Wave’s 18-month development program supporting early-career experimental artists across the continent.
Kickstart has been running since 2001, evolving to meet artists where they are. Today, it’s all about slow development, place-based practice, and deep intergenerational mentorship — and Ellamay’s journey through the program has been no exception.
Working on Yugambeh Country, Ellamay’s lens-based practice explores identity, dual heritage and the nuances of growing up mixed-race in Australia. Through Kickstart, she’s had the opportunity to dive deeper into her creative process, connect with peers nationally, and develop her most ambitious work to date.
